Conformation
Stack it, gait it, own the ring.

Conformation is the sport of showing your dog against their breed’s standard — basically, a judge’s “word picture” of the ideal example of that breed. It’s not obedience, it’s presentation: how your dog stands (stacks), how they move (gaits), and how comfortable they are being looked over by a total stranger with a clipboard.
Is Conformation Right for Your Dog?
- You’ve got a purebred dog and dog shows have caught your eye
- You’re considering a breeding program down the road and want to learn the ropes
- You want to learn real ring handling: stacking, gaiting, presenting like you mean it
- You’d love your dog to be totally chill about being examined by a judge
What You’ll Work On
- Free-stacking and hand-stacking
- Gaiting at the right pace for your dog’s structure
- Ring procedure
- Standing calm and confident for a judge’s exam
- All-around show ring polish
Good to Know
Heads up: this is a showing and handling class, not an obedience class — if you’re looking to work on everyday behavior, Canine Life Skills is your class.
