Rally

Obedience’s fun, chatty cousin.

Rally (AKC Rally-O) takes your dog through a course of numbered signs, each one asking for a different skill — but unlike traditional obedience, you’re allowed to talk to your dog, cheer them on, and generally have fun out there. By the end of this class, you and your dog will be ready to run a small Rally Novice course together.

Is Rally Right for Your Dog?

  • You’ve got the basics down and you’re wondering “okay, what’s next?”
  • You want to sharpen focus, precision, and teamwork with your dog
  • Your dog’s a little unsure of themselves and could use a confidence-building activity
  • You like the sound of dog sports and maybe even earning a title someday
  • Your dog has energy that needs a job — Rally gives it one

What You’ll Work On

  • Heel position, and sit/down in heel
  • Position changes and turns
  • Running a course of Rally signs
  • Focus and teamwork — all taught with rewards that fade out as you both get the hang of it

Good to Know

Rally is a sport and skills class, not a fix for reactivity or serious behavior struggles — if that’s what you’re working through, Canine Life Skills or a private Evaluation is the better starting point.
